Breaking the Stigma

Empowering Youth to Prioritize Their Mental Wellness

One of the most important things we do at The Garden is to encourage youth to prioritize their mental health.

As a parent or caregiver, you play a vital role in your child's mental health. Here are a few things you can do to encourage your youth to prioritize their mental health:

We believe that by working together, we can create a world where all young people have the opportunity to thrive.

  • Talk about mental health openly and honestly. Let your child know that it is okay to talk about their feelings, and that you are there to listen.

  • Model healthy coping mechanisms. Show your child how you handle stress, anxiety, and other difficult emotions in a healthy way.

  • Encourage your child to get involved in activities they enjoy. Spending time doing things they love can help improve their mental health.

  • Make sure your child gets enough sleep. Lack of sleep can contribute to mental health problems.

  • Help your child eat a healthy diet. Eating nutritious foods can help improve their mood and energy levels.

  • Limit screen time. Spending too much time in front of screens can be harmful to mental health.

  • Get your child regular exercise. Exercise is a great way to relieve stress and improve mood.

  • Create a supportive environment. Let your child know that you love and support them, no matter what.
